Knee Injury Ends Unruh's Season

Omaha, Neb. -- Due to an unfortunate left knee injury suffered in Creighton women's basketball season opening win in Sioux Falls, S.D. over North Dakota State, Bluejay Lexi Unruh has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. Additional testing and evaluation in the subsequent days confirmed the diagnosis.
Unruh battled back from injuries in each of her first two seasons, as the Sioux Falls native made her Bluejay debut against the Bison with nine minutes on the court.
"Your heart breaks when any player is injured. Yet knowing how Lexi has worked to get back on the court made this more devastating," said head coach Jim Flanery. "The physical rehab and strength building is tough enough, but asking a student-athlete to work through the mental strain of multiple injuries must also be considered. We will continue to support Lexi in every manner possible."
Unruh is expected to remain with the team, traveling when possible, just as she has done over the last two seasons.
