Men's Basketball Remains 8th in AP Poll; 7th in Coaches Poll

Bluejays are off to a 4-0 start
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team remained eighth in today's Associated Press Top 25 poll, holding steady following two more home wins improved the Bluejays to 4-0 overall. Creighton is also seventh in this week's USA Today Coaches poll, also the same as last week's rankings.
This marks the 25th time in program history that Creighton has been in the AP Top 10 at any point, with all but one of those weeks happening under head coach Greg McDermott. Creighton's best AP ranking in program history is seventh, done five times (Jan. 16, 2017, March 10, 2020, March 18, 2020, Jan. 7, 2021 and Nov. 28, 2022).
Including today's ranking, Creighton has now been ranked by the AP 125 times in program history, with 97 of those under the direction of McDermott. Creighton is 156-63 all-time as a ranked team, including a 122-51 figure under McDermott. Creighton has been ranked at least one week in 10 of McDermott's 14 seasons on The Hilltop after doing it just five different seasons in program history before his 2010 arrival.
Creighton is one of three BIG EAST Conference schools in the top 10 of the poll, joining No. 4 Marquette and No. 5 Connecticut. Kansas is atop the poll, just ahead of Purdue, Arizona, Marquette and UConn as the top nine spots did not change.
The Bluejays will play a pair of games in Kansas City, Mo., at the 2023 Hall of Fame Classic this week. Play begins on Wednesday at 3 p.m. when CU faces Loyola Chicago on CBS Sports Network and 1620 The Zone.
