Laramie, Wyo. – Seniors Morgan Maly, Emma Ronsiek and Lauren Jensen combined for 56 points as the No. 22 Creighton women's basketball team used a second half surge to out duel Wyoming for a 73-61 win on Sunday, December 10.
The win lifted the Bluejays to 7-1 on the season, while Wyoming fell to 4-4. Creighton has now won the last six meetings with the Cowgirls dating back to 1996.
After fighting the altitude and trading baskets early, Creighton used a 9-2 run over the final 3:25 of the opening quarter to take a 17-12 lead. Ronsiek sparked the Bluejays surge with a driving layup, then Maly cashed in mid-range jumper and a transition three, finally Jensen dropped in a jumper to give the Bluejays a five-point cushion heading into the second period.

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm over the next four minutes before back-to-back baskets by redshirt freshman Brittney Harshaw and Jensen gave Creighton a 34-32 lead, but Wyoming's Allyson Fertig would connect on mid-range jump to send the teams into the locker room all level at 34-34.

The Cowgirls responded with a traditional three-point play from Marta Savic, before a pair of layups from sophomore Kennedy Townsend and Ronsiek pushed the lead back out to 50-43 with 1:41 left in the period. The frame came to a close on a play that is guaranteed to be on highlight reels for years to come. An errant shot by Maly was tapped out to Jensen. The Minnesota native fired away as the buzzer went off, drawing a foul for the three-point play to send the game to the fourth with the Bluejays holding a 53-45 edge.
