Connecticut Bringing International Flavor
A perennial powerhouse, the Connecticut Huskies bring a specific uniqueness in 2022-23 as the Huskies' projected starting five hails from five different
countries.
Aaliyah Edwards - Kingston, Ontario, Canada
Nike Mühl - Zagreb, Crotia
Lou Lopez Sénéchal - Grenoble, France
Dorka Juhász - Pécs, Hungary
Aubrey Griffin - Ossining, New York
Scouting Connecticut (22-4, 14-1 BIG EAST)
For the first time in 30 years, the Huskies dropped consecutive games, falling to South Carolina at home on Feb. 5 (81-77) and to Marquette on Feb. 8 (59-52).
Despite the consecutive setbacks Connecticut remains as a projected NCAA top seed and the clear cut favorite in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Huskies weakness this season has been injuries. Connecticut had to postpone a game earlier this season with DePaul, falling below the seven scholarship athlete threshold.
Connecticut, however, remains a dynamic team regardless of who is on the floor. Aaliyah Edwards leads the squad with 16.6 ppg and 8.8 rpg, while Lou Lopez Sénéchal brings 16.1 ppg and Dorka Juhász averages 16.1 ppg.
Edwards and Juhász were dominate in the first meeting, combining for 45 points and 38 rebounds.
Scouting Creighton (18-6, 12-4 BIG EAST)
Over the Bluejays last five games, Creighton is shooting 51.1 percent from the field (141-of-276). That has helped the Bluejays go 5-0 during the stretch. Overall Creighton has won sixth straight entering the game with #6 Connecticut.
The trio of Lauren Jensen, Morgan Maly and Emma Ronsiek lead Creighton's scoring attack. Jensen holds a team-high 16.3 ppg, while Maly and Ronsiek are right behind at 15.8 ppg and 13.5 ppg respectively.
