#23 Men's Basketball Returns to AP Top 25

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team is ranked for the sixth time this season, coming in at No. 23 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Bluejays were ranked in the first five polls of this season, most recently No. 21 on Dec. 5.

The Bluejays are also 16th in the NCAA's NET rankings. The USA Today Coaches poll has Creighton one point away from returning to the top 25, but the Bluejays are first among those "also receiving votes".

Including today's ranking, Creighton (15-8, 9-3 BIG EAST) has now been ranked 119 times in program history, with 91 of those weeks coming under the direction of Greg McDermott. Creighton is 148-59 all-time as a ranked team, including a 114-47 mark under McDermott. Creighton has been ranked at least one week in nine of McDermott's 13 seasons on The Hilltop after doing it just five different seasons in program history before his 2010 arrival. Creighton's best ranking ever is seventh, done five times (Jan. 16, 2017, March 9, 2020, March 16, 2020, Jan. 4, 2021 and Nov. 28, 2022).

Creighton is 11-3 all-time when playing as the nation's No. 23 team. Creighton's most recent No. 23 ranking came on Feb. 10, 2020. Two days later Creighton won at No. 10 Seton Hall, 87-82.

Creighton returns to the court on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. game at Seton Hall (15-9, 8-5 BIG EAST). That contest can be watched on FS1 and heard on 1620 The Zone and 101.9 The Keg.
