Lemke is first player in league history to win back-to-back titles
OMAHA, Neb. – Two-time BIG EAST Women's Golf champion Katherine Lemke will throw out the first pitch prior to Friday's Creighton Baseball game vs. St. John's at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.
With the game scheduled for a 6 p.m. start, Lemke's first pitch will take place at approximately 5:50 p.m.
Lemke made history on Wednesday when she finished as medalist at the BIG EAST Championships Presented by JEEP, becoming the first women's golfer in league history to win back-to-back titles. Fueled by her Creighton and league-record 67 in Tuesday's second round, Lemke topped the field of 33 golfers by two shots. It was the Geneva, Ill., native's fourth career tournament title and second in as many weeks.
The victory clinched a second straight berth in the NCAA Regionals for Lemke, who remains the only women's golfer in program history to play in the postseason. Last year Lemke placed 58th in the Ann Arbor (Mich.) Regional.
Lemke's father, Steve, serves as a scout for the New York Yankees and signed future Major Leaguers Pat Venditte, Joba Chamberlain and Zach Kroenke, among others.
Lemke will learn her postseason destination on Wednesday at Noon Central when NCAA Regional assignments are announced on The Golf Channel. The NCAA Regionals take place from May 8-10 at six pre-determined sites.
Tickets for the Baseball game can be purchased at GoCreighton.com/buy.
