Bluejay Rowing Battles Kansas and Kansas State Tough
4/29/2023 11:17:00 AM | Rowing
Kansas City, Kan. -- Creighton Rowing competed in a three-way regatta against Kansas and Kansas State on Saturday, April 29.
The Bluejays finished third overall, but delivered some impressive times.
"As a unit we posted much better times across all boats," said head coach Dan Chipps. "The Varsity 8 had a great race through 1,500 meters, in second and pushing for first. Unfortunately we had boat stopping crab (oar stuck) at the 1,500 meter mark. Despite the error our time was better than last weekend and we will build on the majority of the race as we go into the conference tournament. The Second Varsity 8 is finding their rhythm against very tough competition, while the
Varsity 4 boat is really coming together. For both of those boats its a matter of making minor adjustments to fine tune for the WCC Tournament. Our Second Varsity Four used a new lineup this week, we are working with the lineup to find a bit more speed to maximize the results at the WCC. In addition our 3v4 and 3v8 are a young group of rowers that are learning the sport, they bring a lot of enthusiasm and will be able to contribute moving forward."
This is the final race of the regular season as the Bluejays will spend the next two weeks preparing for the WCC Championships in Sacramento, Calif. on Saturday, May 13.
