Sis owns three kills in sweep.
Nogales, Sonora, Mexico - - Rising Creighton junior Norah Sis started and had three kills to help the USA Volleyball Under-21 National Team to a lopsided 3-0 victory over Guatemala on Wednesday afternoon at the U21 Women's NORCECA Pan American Cup. The American side never trailed in its 25-8, 25-13, 25-14 victory.
The US owned a 34-21 advantage in kills, 12-2 edge in blocks and owned eight aces to Guatemala's three, needing just 61 minutes to earn the sweep.
"I liked that we were consistent, we didn't give up a lot of runs in a row and that we were able to get a lot of players in," said USA head coach Dan Fisher in a story posted on Norceca.net. "This is going to be a long tournament because we're going to play every single day, maybe two times in a day so I think how we managed the load of the players was important". Â
Sis finished her night with three kills on four attacks, adding one assist and one dig. She was also called on to serve once.
The 2022 BIG EAST Player of the Year and a two-time BIG EAST Tournament MVP, Sis averaged 4.33 kills per set and 2.51 digs per set for a Creighton team that won the BIG EAST regular-season and Tournament titles. The Papillion, Neb., product has been named an AVCA All-American following each of her previous two seasons as a Bluejay, during which time Creighton is a combined 58-9.
Last summer Sis started all five of Team USA's matches while helping the U.S. Women's National Team to the 2022 Pan American Cup gold medal, collecting a combined 30 kills, 24 digs, four blocks and three aces on .286 hitting for the week.
Sis and USA Volleyball return to the court on Thursday at 8 p.m. Central against Dominican Republic. The event will be live streamed on Facebook Live at Codeson Sonora.
