Baseball Adds Seven Transfers for 2024 Season

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball head coach Ed Servais announced the addition of eight players that are joining the Bluejay program as transfers for the 2024 season.

Joining the Creighton program next season will be; Duke Coborn (RHP)—St. Thomas, Teddy Deters (OF/INF)—Xavier, Will MacLean (INF/OF)—UMASS-Amherst, Parker Primeaux (RHP)—Centenary College, Chad Saner Jr (RHP)—Illinois Springfield, Matt Scherrman (INF)—UW Oshkosh and Sam Vomhof (UTL/RHP)—UW Whitewater.
"We wanted to add some experience, both at the plate and on the mound. This group allows us to accomplish that," said head coach Ed Servais. "We added offensive pieces with tremendous collegiate experience and bolstered both our starting options as well as the bullpen."
Coborn is a graduate transfer with two seasons of eligibility from St. Thomas. In three seasons with the Tommies, the right hander has a 4.38 ERA with 118 strikeouts of 127.1 innings. His best season came in 2021 as Coborn went 4-1 with a 3.13 ERA over 54.2 innings. The Minnesota native appeared in 35 games with 14 starts.
Deters comes to Omaha from BIG EAST rival Xavier. The Minnesota native brings a .313 career average (15-for-48) with two home runs, two doubles and 10 RBI over 26 games.
MacLean delivered consecutive seasons at .300 or better, hitting .321 in 2022 and .300 last year. A career .308 hitter (103-for-334), MacLean brings 12 home runs, 16 doubles and 65 RBI to the Bluejays.
Primeaux has thrown a combined 234 innings, including 168 over the last two seasons. He has a combined 3.35 ERA, including a 2.13 ERA mark last season. In 2023, he was 8-0 with 75 strikeouts in 84.1 frames. The Louisiana native has 217 career strikeouts with a career mark of 20-10 and 16 saves.
Saner Jr. is a grad transfer from Illinois-Springfield, the Illinois native went 14-1 in 31 appearances with the Prairie Stars. The right hander started 27 games, tossing 131.2 innings with 157 strikeouts and just 45 walks. Saner Jr. has a career 3.08 ERA with a .205 opponent's batting average.
The fourth graduate transfer is Scherrman from UW-Oshkosh. The dual threat is expected to be used as an infielder at Creighton. Scherrman hit .366 over three seasons with the Titans (179-for-489), including a .427 mark (67-for-157) last season. He has a combined 36 stolen bases, 24 home runs and 52 doubles.
A two-way threat from UW-Whitewater, Vomhof hit .404 over three seasons with the Warhawks (155-for-384) with 86 RBI. He also tossed nine innings, converting two saves in 10 appearances. Vomhof posted a combined .457 on-base percentage and 25 combined stolen bases, led by 12 during the 2022 season.
