Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to Xavier

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Men's Soccer fell to Xavier 1-0 on Friday, September 29 in a BIG EAST matchup.
The loss moved the Bluejays to 3-4-3 on the season and 2-1-0 in BIG EAST action, while Xavier climbed to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play.
The Musketeers seized a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute despite having just one shot in the first half. The goal came on a bit of miscommunication as Xavier's Nathan Trickett beat Creighton goalkeeper Blake Gillingham and the Bluejay defense for an unattended goal from 35 yards away.
Xavier's Taylor Rhinehart and George Waites set the goal in motion, moving the ball from just outside the Musketeer box to midfield, then Waites headed the ball to the foot of Trickett.
Creighton closed the half with a 4-1 lead, but were unable to pull even. Xavier controlled play in the second half, out shooting Creighton 7-2.
The Bluejays return to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 3 in a crosstown matchup with Omaha. The contest will be in Morrison Stadium, with a 6:00 p.m. start.
