Men's Basketball Ascends to 17th in AP Poll; 12th in NET

Creighton ranked for 11th time in 12 polls this season
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team moved up one spot to 17th in the Associated Press poll and down one spot to 16th in the USA Today Coaches poll released on Monday. The Bluejays are also No. 12 (up one spot) in the updated version of the NET and No. 17 (up two spots) in the KPI.
CU split a pair of road games last week, losing at No. 1 Connecticut (62-48) before needing triple-overtime to upend league-leader Seton Hall (97-94). Those results moved Creighton's record to 14-5 on the season, and 5-3 in BIG EAST play.
Creighton's best AP ranking in program history is seventh, done five times (Jan. 16, 2017, March 10, 2020, March 18, 2020, Jan. 7, 2021 and Nov. 28, 2022). CU owns 27 weeks in the AP Top 10 in its history, with all but one of those recognitions coming during Greg McDermott's tenure.
Including today's ranking, Creighton has now been ranked by the AP 132 times in program history, with 105 of those under the direction of McDermott. Creighton is 164-68 all-time as a ranked team, including a 130-56 figure under McDermott. Creighton has been ranked at least one week in 10 of McDermott's 14 seasons on The Hilltop after doing it just five different seasons in program history before his 2010 arrival.
Creighton is one of three BIG EAST Conference schools in the top 25, joining No. 1 Connecticut and No. 14 Marquette. The top five teams in the poll are now Connecticut, Purdue, North Carolina, Houston and Kansas.
Creighton is also one of four schools in the country with both its men's and women's teams ranked in this week's AP Top 25, joining Baylor, North Carolina and Connecticut.
The Bluejays have a pair of home games this week, hosting Xavier on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. before welcoming DePaul on Saturday at 6 p.m. Both games will air on FS1 and 1620 The Zone.
