Strong Fourth Lifts #21 Bluejay Women's Hoops to 77-72 Win at Georgetown

Washington, D.C. -- Down 62-61 midway through the final frame, seniors Lauren Jensen and Emma Ronsiek rallied #21 Creighton to a 77-72 win over Georgetown on Wednesday, January 24.
The win pushed Creighton to 15-3 on the season and 6-2 in BIG EAST action, while Georgetown moved to 14-5 overall and 4-4 in conference play.
Jensen put the Bluejays back in front for good with 5:54 remaining, converting a four-point play as she drained a corner trey as she was fouled. The Minnesota native converted the bonus shot, then after a defensive stop Jensen scored two more via a driving layup to give Creighton a 67-62 advantage with 5:19 left.
Georgetown responded immediately with a bucket in the paint to bring the contest back to a one possession game with 5:04 remaining.
The defense for each team stepped forward over the next three minutes, but down the stretch Ronsiek took control. The South Dakota native delivered eight points in the final 2:34, all coming late in the shot clock to answer each challenge from the Hoyas to keep Georgetown at arms length.
The opening quarter was an offensive display as Creighton led 25-21, getting 12 points in the frame from Morgan Maly. The Bluejays pushed their edge to as much as 14 at 41-27 (2:47) late in the second quarter, but settled for a 43-32 edge at the half.
The third quarter belonged to the Hoyas as Creighton struggled with Georgetown's press. The Hoyas went on to even teh game at 55-55 heading into the final stanza.
Jensen led all scorers with 21 points, while Maly posted 20 points. Ronsiek and Mogensen rounded out the Bluejays in double figures with 15 and 11 points respectively. Five Hoyas finished in double digits, led by 17 points from Brianna Scott, Jada Claude and Kelsey Ransom each finished with 14 points, while Viictoria Rivera and Graceann Bennett had 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Bluejays return home for a pair of tough games against Seton Hall on Sunday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. on FS1, followed by a battle with Marquette on January 31 at 6:00 p.m.
