Blake Gillingham Named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week

This week's honors mark the second Goalkeeper of the Week achievement for Gillingham this season also earning the recognition on September 16. Overall it is Blake's third award, earning his first on September 25, 2023. Reed, meanwhile, claimed his first BIG EAST nod with a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Gillingham allowed just one goal in two road matches, helping Creighton post a pair of victories over Omaha (2-1) and Xavier (1-0). Blake preserved the Bluejays' first BIG EAST victory over Xavier in a road match shutout, collecting three saves including two in the second half. The San Jose, Calif. native also notched five saves in Creighton's win against cross-town rival, Omaha,.on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Forced into a leadership role with Mark O'Neill unavailable against Xavier, Reed moved into the center back position for the first time. The sophomore defender shined, leading his squad to a shutout win on the road. Reed's defensive intensity helped limit Xavier to eight shots in the match, including just two in the first half.
