Men’s Tennis Opens ITA Central Regional With Trio of Qualifying Victories

TULSA, Okla. – The Creighton men's tennis team earned a trio of singles main draw qualifying wins on Wednesday as the Bluejays opened up play at the ITA Central Regional in Tulsa, Okla.
Junior Zachary Kuo got the Bluejays started early, claiming a 6-1, 6-1 straight sets win over Saint Louis' Max Chen, while fellow classmate Yuma Daijima followed with an identical 6-1, 6-1 straight sets win over the Bilikens' Sansh Kumar to advance into the Singles Main Draw bracket on Thursday.
Freshman Rocky McKenzie also captured a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Omaha's Pavan Uppu in the qualifying rounds, earning his spot in tomorrow's Singles Main Draw bracket.
Senior Ethan Neil and junior Kirtan Patel each suffered a pair of losses during the opening rounds of singles play, ending their run in the Consolation Singles Round of 16.
Play at the ITA Central Regional will continue on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. from the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
