Sis is one of three Bluejays now on the list.
OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton's Norah Sis has been added to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Watch List for its 2024 Division I Player of the Year Award, presented by Nike Volleyball. The senior from Papillion was one of 16 women to join the original list of 36 players that was released in three groups of 12 from Sept. 18-20.
Sis joins Bluejay teammates Ava Martin and Kendra Wait, both of whom were on the original list, as Creighton joins Florida State, Louisville, Nebraska, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Texas and Wisconsin as one of eight programs with at least three honorees. There are now 52 women on the list after the inclusion of 16 more of the country's best performers.
The list will be narrowed down in November, and then the names of the finalists will be released before the AVCA Convention. The 2024 AVCA Player of the Year will be announced on Friday, Dec. 20, in Louisville, KY, during the AVCA Convention.
A three-time BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year, Sis leads Creighton with 3.84 kills per set while also averaging 2.14 digs, 0.51 aces and 0.37 aces per set on .299 hitting. A Third Team All-American in 2021 and Honorable Mention All-American by the AVCA in 2022, Sis ranks fourth in Bluejay history with 1,445 career kills and is 44 digs shy of 1,000. She's been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week three times this fall (Sept. 9, Sept. 23, Oct. 7) and was named MVP of the Creighton Classic.
Ranked third in the RPI and sixth in Monday's AVCA poll, Creighton (15-2, 6-0 BIG EAST) is home this weekend for a pair of matches, starting with tonight's 6 p.m. match against Xavier that will be televised by Nebraska Public Media.
