Bluejay Women's Basketball Ranked #20 in Preseason USA Today/Coaches Poll

Omaha, Neb. -- Bluejay women's basketball opens the 2024-25 season ranked No. 20 in the Preseason USA Today/Coaches Poll. Earlier this month Creighton was slotted No. 21 in the Associated Press (AP) Preseason Top-25.
Creighton finished the 2023-24 season with a 26-6 record, advancing to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to No. 6 UCLA in a tight contest, 67-63.The Bluejays ended the 2023-24 season ranked No. 24 as the NCAA Tournament began. Crieghton was ranked in each of the final 16 weeks of the 2023-24 AP Poll and appeared in 18 of the 20 polls last season.
The Bluejays return seven members of its roster from the 2023-24 NCAA Tournament team, including seven of their top eight scorers. Two-time All-BIG EAST selections Lauren Jensen and Morgan Maly return for one final season. Jensen led Creighton with 558 points last season, while Maly led the squad with 209 rebounds as well as 486 points. Two other starters return from last season as point guard Molly Mogensen returns after dishing out a team-high 136 assists in 2023-24 and Mallory Brake led Creighton with 56 steals last season.
Creighton completed its third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history last season and expectations are for the team to be dancing in March once more. The Bluejays begin the 2023-24 season with a road contest against South Dakota State on November 8 in Brookings, S.D.
Single-game tickets for the 2024-25 season are on sale now, including the battle with Connecticut on January 25, which was announced to be at the CHI Health Center Omaha.
The USA TODAY Sports women's basketball coaches poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at Division I schools. The panel is chosen by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The members represent each of the 32 Division I conferences that receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.
