Men's Soccer Faces Butler on Saturday Afternoon

Omaha, Neb. -- Prior to the final home match of the 2024 season, the Bluejays will honor seniors Blake Gillingham, Fabian Alvarez, Miguel Ventura, Landon Sloan, Jackson Castro, Lucio Berron, and Mark O'Neill as well as manager Sid Kuljam as the group will play their last regular season match at Morrison Stadium.

Scouting Creighton
The Bluejays have won three of the last four contests and look to build upon their late season success as they seek a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament.
Controlling Creighton's offensive attack is senior midfielder Jackson Castro. Castro has highlighted the Bluejays' attack with five goals and five assists to tally 15 points on the season. Â
Supporting the Bluejays front line are sophomores Miguel Arilla and Ali Ramadan as well as freshman Gavrilo Civric. The trio of Bluejays have notched three goals each while Arilla has dished out four assists and Civric has added a pair of assists.
Offensively as a team, the Bluejays rank fourth in the BIG EAST in total shots (208), fourth in total goals (23), fifth in total points (68), and tied-sixth in assists (22).
Between the posts, goalkeeping duties have been assigned to experienced junior, Blake Gillingham. The Bluejay netminder has started all 15 matches, recording 1,350 minutes in goal while snaring 35 saves. Gillingham has posted seven victories including four via shutouts.
Scouting Butler
Butler travels to Morrison Stadium with a 4-8-3 overall record and 1-5-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Bulldogs picked up their first league win of the season with a dominant 5-1 win over Xavier on Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs have struggled to find rhythm this season on the road, recording an 0-5-1 record when playing away from home. Over the course of their six road contests, the Bulldogs have been outscored 12-6.
The Bulldogs' front line is led by the foot of junior forward, Josemir Gomez. Gomez has been incredibly dominant this season, chipping in eight goals and earning two assists. Gomez's eight goals rank second in the BIG EAST this fall. Â
Also contributing to Butler's offensive attack is sophomore Ryan Hannosh and junior Palmer Ault. Hannosh has earned five goals and dished out four assists while Palmer has collected three goals and five assists.
Graduate Caleb Norris has been a fixture between the posts for Butler this season, starting all 15 matches while logging a total of 1,350 minutes in goal. Pierce has grabbed 55 saves this season, ranking second in the BIG EAST while his 1.60 goals against average ranks eighth among conference goalkeepers.
Path to BIG EAST Tournament
Entering the match with the Bulldogs, Creighton can clinch a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament (top eight teams) with a win over Butler and losses by Xavier and DePaul. Butler would need to defeat Creighton as well as DePaul next Saturday to have a chance. Currently three teams have secured a spot (Akron, Georgetown and St. John's).
Shutout for the Fifth Time This Seasons Equals Most Since 2003
Creighton's 3-0 loss at #24 Akron was the Bluejays' fifth time being shut out this season. That mark was the season ending total in 2023, 2019, 2013 and 2009. The last time the Bluejays were held scoreless in six contests came during the 2003 season.
