Women's Basketball Takes on Southwest Minnesota State in an Exhibition Contest on Wednesday

Omaha, Neb. -- Stacked with a veteran roster that included five returning fifth-year players and two juniors, #21 Creighton added two more fifth-year graduate transfers and two freshmen as the Bluejays embark on reaching their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament.

Bluejay Bird Seeds
- Creighton and Southwest Minnesota State have not met during the regular season.
- The Bluejays closed the 2023-24 season with a 26-6 record, reaching the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
- Southwest Minnesota State closed last season 19-12.
- New Creighton Assistant Coach Mike Jewett was the head coach at Southwest Minnesota State from 2006-10.
- Creighton head coach Jim Flanery enters his 23rd season as the head coach for the Bluejays with a career record of 427-268 (.614).
- Southwest Minnesota State head coach Tom Webb is beginning his ninth season with the Mustangs. He enters the season with a 96-114 record at SMSU.
- Creighton returns seven of its top eight scorers from last season.
- Lauren Jensen led Creighton in scoring last season with 558 points. She closed the 2023-24 season by earning her second consecutive All-BIG EAST First Team selection.
- Earlier this week Jensen was named to the Naismith Player of the Year Watch List as well as the Ann Meyes-Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Watch List.
- Creighton's leading rebounder, Morgan Maly, has also earned back-to-back All-BIG EAST First Team selections. She closed the 2023-24 season with 209 rebounds.
- The Bluejays have seven fifth-year players on the roster, including graduate transfers
- Sydney Golladay and Brooke Littrell.
- The Mustangs leading scorer from last season, Bri Stoltzman, returns after scoring 579 points last season. Stoltzman also led her squad with 206 rebounds.
- Bluejay point guard Molly Mogensen and Mustang guard Peyton Blandin each played at Farmington HS. Mogensen is a fifth-year Bluejay, while Blandin is a senior for SMSU.
- Freshmen Elizabeth Gentry and Allison Heathcock will be making their Creighton debut on Wednesday.
- Creighton went on the first European Trip in program history during the month of August, playing two games in Barcelona, Spain and one in Athens, Greece.
- The Bluejays open the season with four consecutive games against NCAA Tournament opponents, starting at South Dakota State on Nov. 8.
- SMSU opens the regular season at home against Washburn (Kan.) on Nov. 8.
