OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton Volleyball's Sydney Breissinger, Kiara Reinhardt, Norah Sis and Kendra Wait have been named to the 2024 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators. It's the third straight year that Wait has landed on the Academic All-District team, the second time for both Reinhardt and Sis, and the first time for Breissinger.
The teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 14, 2025.
Breissinger finished her sophomore campaign third on the Bluejay squad in aces per set (0.31) and fourth with 2.02 digs per set. The Journalism major from Cincinnati, Ohio was 10th in the BIG EAST with 0.33 service aces per set in conference action.
A senior from Cedarburg, Wis., Reinhardt led all players in BIG EAST play with 1.53 blocks per set and ranked eighth with a .330 hitting percentage. The All-BIG EAST selection ranks eighth in the country with 167 total blocks, a figure that is sixth-most in CU single-season history. A Nursing major, Reinhardt was also selected as a Academic All-District choice in 2022.
Sis picked up her fourth All-BIG EAST honor this fall after ranking second in the BIG EAST in both kills per set (3.78) and points per set (4.50) as well as being third with 0.45 service aces per set. The Papillion, Neb., product finished her career second in CU history in career kills (1,664) and fifth in aces (113). A Nursing major, Sis was also selected as a Academic All-District choice in 2022.
Wait repeated as BIG EAST Player of the Year and BIG EAST Setter of the Year. The Gardner, Kan., product led the BIG EAST in assists per set (10.97) for the fourth straight season, good for 12th nationally. Wait's setting helped Creighton establish a program record for hitting percentage (.324), the second-best mark in the country. Wait is a Nursing major who was named Second Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators in 2022 before moving up to become Creighton Volleyball's second-ever First Team Academic All-American last fall.
