Brian Rosen has been at Creighton for three seasons
Rosen is the second coach in BIG EAST history to earn Assistant Coach of the Year honors from the AVCA, joining fellow Creighton assistant Angie Oxley Behrens' 2019 recognition.
"I'm thrilled for Brian to receive this prestigious honor," said Creighton head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth. "It is incredibly well deserved. Brian has a motor that doesn't stop. He is a fantastic recruiter, trainer, and most importantly, he is an amazing person. We are so grateful that Brian is a Bluejay."
Rosen just completed his third season at Creighton, and first since being promoted to Associate Head Coach. He serves as the program's recruiting coordinator, works closely with middle blockers, and also assists in scouting of upcoming opponents.
Rosen is an integral part of a staff that took home BIG EAST Conference Coaching Staff of the Year honors for a second straight fall. Both of Creighton's middle blockers -- Elise Goetzinger and Kiara Reinhardt -- were named All-BIG EAST and ranked first and second in the league in blocks per set this fall. Goetzinger was named Honorable Mention All-American by the AVCA on Wednesday.
Since Rosen's arrival, Creighton has had seven women combine for 14 All-BIG EAST Team accolades, and the Bluejays have had three BIG EAST Players of the Year, two BIG EAST Setters of the Year and one BIG EAST Freshman of the Year. CU has also had five women combine for nine AVCA All-America accolades in the past three years.
Rosen has seen Creighton go 88-13 in his three seasons on the bench, including three national seeds, two trips to the Sweet 16, a trip to the Elite Eight and a sweep of the BIG EAST regular-season and Tournament title each year. Creighton's 88 wins and .871 winning percentage both rank third-best nationally in that time, trailing only Pittsburgh (93-10; .903) and Nebraska (92-10; .920).
Rosen's recognition makes Creighton the only Division I school with multiple people to earn the AVCA Division I Assistant Coach of the Year on the women's side. Stanford is the only other school with two such accolades, but both were won by Denise Corlett in 2010 and 2012.
Creighton finished the 2024 season in the Elite Eight on Sunday with a 32-3 overall record after making its 13th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Bluejays won their 11th straight BIG EAST regular-season title while also capturing their 10th league tournament title in the past 11 campaigns.
