About Xavier
Scouting Xavier (4-3)
Coming off a season-opening loss to San Jose State the Musketeers delivered a three-game win streak in mid-November.
Since that streak Xavier has alternated between wins and losses, going 1-2. Most recently, the Musketeers were bested 72-60 in a road battle with Eastern Michigan. After building a comfortable 45-25 lead by halftime, Xavier found themselves outscored 47-15 in the second half, a margin that ushered the Musketeers out of Michigan with their third loss of the season.
In contrast to the 0-2 record Xavier holds in road matchups, all of the Musketeers' victories this season came at home, boasting a 4-1 record. Averaging 58.6 points per game, Xavier defeated Miami (Ohio), Mercyhurst, Arkansas State and Youngstown State while holding home court advantage.
Meri Kanerva and Loren Christie stand at the helm of Xavier's offense this season, with Kanerva holding the top spot on the roster with 11.3 points per game and Christie posting an average 11.1 points per game. Kanerva and Christie average nearly double the points per game as the rest of the Musketeer roster, with Xavier's next most efficient scorer being Aizhanique Mayo with 6.6 average points.
Scouting Creighton (5-2)
After the road loss to #10 Kansas State on Nov. 14, Creighton turned the page with a four game win streak over the month of November into the first day of December. Since 2014, Creighton has emerged victorious in a majority of matchups, boasting a 19-2 record over the Musketeers. Last year, the Bluejays fought for a 99-57 victory at D.J. Sokol Arena in February of 2024 to propel them to a 15 game win streak.
Creighton has averaged 79.6 points per game in the early season, with the Bluejays' scoring success led by Lauren Jensen, who leads the charge with an average 20.6 points per game, and Morgan Maly, who averages 17.6 points per game.
