Bluejay Baseball Sweeps BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Omaha, Neb. -- Coming off a sweep of three games at the Sugar Land Classic, Creighton Baseball completed another sweep on Monday, February 26 as senior Dominic Cancellieri and sophomore Ben North claimed the BIG EAST Pitcher and Player of the Week.

Cancellieri earned his second win of the season, tossing five innings of one-run ball in Creighton's 22-1 win over host Houston Christian in the opening game of the Sugar Land Classic. The Bluejay ace allowed three hits and one walk, while striking out six in the victory.

Creighton's third baseman tied a pair school record with two grand slams and 10 RBI in the Bluejays' 22-1 win over Houston Baptist on Friday, February 23. He closed the weekend with three home runs, 11 RBI, six runs scored, an average of .714 (5-for-7), a slugging percentage of 2.286 and an on-base percentage of .778. North notched at least one hit in each of the Bluejays' three wins over the weekend, coming on a defensive replacement on Sunday and recording only one official at-bat.

Creighton returns to Sugar Land next weekend for the Battle of the Ballpark. The Bluejays open the weekend against Air Force on Friday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. (CT), face Louisiana Tech on Saturday, March 2 at 1:00 p.m. (CT) and Army on Sunday, March 3 at 12:00 p.m. (CT).
