Men's Basketball Earns Fourth Straight AP Top 20 Ranking

Bluejays play a pair of road games this week
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team slipped six spots to 19th in the Associated Press poll and five lines to 18th in the USA Today Coaches poll released on Monday. The Bluejays are also No. 16 (down three spots) in the updated version of the NET and No. 26 (down five spots) in the KPI.
It's the 13th time in 14 polls this season that Creighton has been included in both the AP and Coaches rankings.
Creighton fell to 16-6 overall and 7-4 in BIG EAST play after losing its lone game last week to Butler, 99-98.
Creighton's best AP ranking in program history is seventh, done five times (Jan. 16, 2017, March 10, 2020, March 18, 2020, Jan. 7, 2021 and Nov. 28, 2022). CU owns 27 weeks in the AP Top 10 in its history, with all but one of those recognitions coming during Greg McDermott's tenure. Creighton's best AP rank this year is eighth, done three times.
Including today's ranking, Creighton has now been ranked by the AP 134 times in program history, with 107 of those under the direction of McDermott. Creighton is 166-69 all-time as a ranked team, including a 132-57 figure under McDermott. Creighton has been ranked at least one week in 10 of McDermott's 14 seasons on The Hilltop after doing it just five different seasons in program history before his 2010 arrival.
Creighton is one of three BIG EAST Conference schools in the top 25, joining No. 1 Connecticut and No. 7 Marquette. The top five teams in the poll are Connecticut, Purdue, North Carolina, Kansas and Houston.
Creighton is also one of five schools in the country with both its men's and women's teams ranked in this week's AP Top 25, joining Baylor, North Carolina, South Carolina and Connecticut.
The Bluejays play a pair of road games this week, starting on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. Central tip at Providence.
