Lommel Earns BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

Omaha, Neb. -- After throwing just 3.1 innings entering the play last week, Cade Lommel delivered 8.1 frames of scoreless baseball against #13 Coastal Carolina (3.1) and Georgetown (5.0). His efforts earned the Minnesota native the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honor on Monday, April 29.
The southpaw struck out nine and allowed just three hits over his two relief appearances. The five inning effort against the Hoyas was Lommel's longest outing since going 5.1 against Connecticut on May 8, 2002.
Creighton returns to the diamond on Tuesday, April 30 as the Bluejays take on Nebraska in final meeting between the two teams in 2024, Creighton collected the series win with victories in the previous two meetings this season.

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Christian Ficca, Georgetown, Sr., 1B (Chevy Chase, Md.)
Ficca slashed .500/.688/.900 in a 3-0 week for Georgetown. The senior first baseman tallied five hits and scored five runs, including a double and a home run with eight RBI. Ficca also collected six walks in his three outings.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Garrett Coe, UConn, Sr., LHP
Coe pitched 12 innings over the course of the week, striking out nine batters and he did not allow any earned runs in either of the Huskies wins.
Korey Morton, UConn, Sr., OF
Morton batted 9-for-18 in a perfect 4-0 week for the Huskies, scoring six times with seven RBI and four doubles hit.
Cody Bowker, Georgetown, So., RHP
Bowker tossed six innings, allowing just four runs and fanning out eight batters in the Hoyas 10-2 win over Creighton.
Marty Higgins, St. John's, Gr., INF
Higgins drove in six of the team's 18 total runs in the Red Storm's series victory at Xavier. He delivered back-to-back three RBI games to close out the series, including a decisive two-run home run in the rubber match.
Zack Sylvester, Seton Hall, Sr., INF
Hit .471 (8-for-17) with two home runs, five runs scored, five RBI and 15 total bases to lead the Pirates to a series win over Butler.
