Omaha, Neb. -- The trio of Dominic Cancellieri, Daniel Hammond and Mason Koch earned Academic All-District Honors from College Sports Communicators (CSC) when the Baseball Awards were announced on Tuesday, June 4.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Cancellieri was the ace of the Bluejays' staff until an arm injury derailed his season. Dominic started the 2024 season with six victories in seven appearances, going 6-0 over 35.0 innings with a 2.83 ERA. He limited the opposition to a .229 batting average in seven starts, but his last outing of the season came on March 28.
Hammond made 24 trips to the mound, all in relief. He closed the season 3-3 with a 4.68 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.
Creighton's closer, Kock posted a 5-1 mark with six saves and 3.29 ERA in 25 appearances. Mason recorded 60 strikeouts with just 17 walks.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as
CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members.
First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 2, 2024.
