Men's Soccer Begins 2024 at Home Against Florida Atlantic and Drake

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Men's Soccer begins its 2024 campaign with a pair of home matches against Florida Atlantic (Thursday, August 22) and Drake (Sunday, August 25) in Morrison Stadium.

Season Opening Success
Creighton is 31-6-5 in home openers. Thursday will mark the 30th time in program history that the Bluejays will open the season at home. Creighton is 21-4-4 the previous 29 times, dropping a 2-1 decision to Grand Canyon on Sept. 1, 2023.
Overall, the Bluejays are 22-5-7 during their first match of the season since Creighton restarted its men's soccer program in 1990.
Fortress Morrison
Creighton is 161-37-26 overall at Morrison Stadium (opened in 2003), which includes a 5-4-0 mark last season.
The Bluejays are 14-3-4 during home-openers at Morrison Stadium.
Series History: Creighton leads Florida Atlantic, 1-0-0
Battling for the first time since 1999, Creighton holds a 1-0-0 lead on Florida Atlantc. The last meeting between the two programs came in Omaha on Sept. 35, 1999 as the Bluejays posted a 2-1 win in overtime.

Scouting Creighton (0-0-0)
The Bluejays enter the 2024 season with a nice blend of new talent and veteran leadership. Jackson Castro is set to lead Creighton's offensive attack, while the tandem of Mark O'Neill and Miguel Ventura will anchor the back line.
In goal the Bluejays expect Blake Gillingham to play the bulk of the minutes. Gillingham earned the role in the ninth match of the 2023 season, playing the final 11 contests. He delivered a 1.64 GAA last season, with one shutout.
In addition to Castro, the Bluejays expect sophomore Miguel Arilla to build on his 12 point performance as a freshman. Another sophomore bringing big expectations is Andrija Savic. The sophomore defender played 16 matches last season, starting 14 contests.
Scouting Florida Atlantic (0-0-0)
The Owls went 6-8-3 last season, including a 3-5-0 mark in the AAC. Florida Atlantic was picked fifth of 10 in the American Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll. One area of weakness for FAU last season was playing on the road as the Owls were just 2-6-2.
Scouting Drake (0-0-0)
The Bulldogs went 3-10-3 during 2023, placing ninth in the MVC. The Bulldogs and Bluejays both faced Northeast Community College in the exhibition season, but scores were not reported. Drake opens the 2024 season against Grand View on Thursday, Aug. 22.
