Women's Tennis in Action at the Minnesota Invite

Minneapolis, Minn. -- Highlighted by singles victories from Annika Elvestrom and Alem Cote, the Creighton women's tennis team completed the opening day of action at the Minnesota Invite on Friday, September 20.

Elvestrom posted a 6-0, 6-4 in outdoor singles action over Jyun-Yi Lee of Drake, while Alem Cote defeated Alyssa Giupponi of North Dakota, 6-0, 6-4.

"This is a tough tournament but a great one for us to prepare for the grueling spring season," said head coach Tom Lilly. "We had a few good moments and also some matches that we hopefully learned from. We are still banged up from last weekend and have several injuries we are working through so not everyone will be competing tomorrow unfortunately."

Creighton continues play in the Minnesota Invite on Saturday, September 21.
