Bluejays host rival Marquette on Tuesday night on FS1
It's the 25th time overall that Creighton has been ranked in the Top 10, and fourth consecutive week this month. This is the 13th straight campaign that Creighton has spent at least one week in the Top 25.
The Bluejays are one of 15 schools (along with Baylor, BYU, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Stanford, Texas and Wisconsin) to have been ranked each of the last 52 polls. Creighton has been ranked in all but six of the past 121 weeks the AVCA has put out a Top 25 poll and 129 times in program history, which ranks 41st-most all-time. Creighton is 212-47 all-time when playing as a ranked team in the AVCA poll.
Five of Creighton's 2024 opponents are ranked in this week's poll. The Bluejays have already beaten then-No. 20 (and current No. 21) USC on Sept. 5th, and lost five-set road matches at then-No. 5 (and current No. 2) Nebraska (Sept. 10) and then-No. 4 (and current No. 4) Louisville (Sept. 15). CU also went to Lawrence, Kan., where it beat then-No. 6 (and current No. 10) Purdue (Sept. 20) as well as then-No. 10 (and current No. 8) Kansas (Sept. 21). BIG EAST rival Marquette is among those teams also receiving votes.
The top five in this week's poll consists of Pittsburgh, Nebraska, Penn State, Louisville and Stanford.
The Bluejays are also ranked No. 6 in the second VolleyballMag Super 16 Media Poll of the season.
Creighton (11-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) returns to the court with a pair of matches this week, starting with Tuesday night's 6 p.m. match against Marquette (6-5, 2-0 BIG EAST) that will be nationally-televised on FS1. The teams have shared the BIG EAST regular-season title each of the last three seasons, and both started 2-0 in league play without dropping a set over the weekend.
