Men's Basketball Remains 23rd in Both Polls

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team remains ranked 23rd in the first Associated Press Top 25 poll of the regular-season. The ranking comes after the Bluejays defeated South Dakota, 92-76, in last Wednesday's season-opener.

Creighton has now been ranked 149 times in program history, with 121 of those under the direction of McDermott. Creighton is 181-78 all-time as a ranked team, including a 147-66 mark under Greg McDermott. Creighton has now been ranked at least one week in 12 of McDermott's 16 seasons on The Hilltop after doing it just five different seasons in program history before his 2010 arrival.

Creighton's best ranking in program history is seventh, done five times (Jan. 16, 2017, March 10, 2020, March 18, 2020, Jan. 7, 2021 and Nov. 28, 2022).

Creighton is one of three BIG EAST Conference schools in this week's poll, joining No. 3 Connecticut and No. 13 St. John's.

The Bluejays also held steady at No. 23 in this week's USA Today Coaches poll.

Creighton (1-0) visits No. 19 Gonzaga (2-0) tomorrow night at 9 p.m. Central in a game that will be nationally-televised on ESPN.
