Omaha, Neb. -- Following the best recruiting class in program history last year, Creighton Women's Basketball continued to reload its squad with another banger of a signing class for 2026-27. Head coach Jim Flanery announced the signing of Kate Amelotte (Plymouth, Minn.), Mya Moore (Independence, Minn.) and Jayla Williams (Ankeny, Iowa) on Wednesday, November 12.
"We've added three versatile and highly competitive guards. Each gives us something a little different, but they are going to help us with play making and defending," said Flanery. "They are all really good people with high character and great work ethics. I think it's a great class to follow and build on our big and talented freshmen class."
A 6-0 hybrid that can fill both the guard and forward spots, Amelotte comes to Creighton from Wayzata High School . An All-State and All-Metro selection in 2024, Kate was sidelined last season with an injury. As a sophomore she averaged 13.6 ppg, 7.2 rpg and 5.2 apg. Equally as impressive in the classroom, Amelotte earned Academic All-State with a 3.91 GPA. She plans to pursue a degree in exercise physiology with a focus on physical training.
"I fell in love with the Creighton campus on my first visit to Omaha. The welcoming feel of the University, the strong academic standards, and the Catholic foundation were very important aspects for me," noted Amelotte. "The basketball team's style of play, coaching staff, and culture rooted with relationships and player development was something I knew I wanted to be a part of."Â
Another Minnesota native, Moore competes for Orono High School. A 5-10 point guard, Mya is already a two-time All-State selection and was the Metro West Player of the Year as well as Defensive Player of the Year last season. Moore topped the 1,000-point plateau as a sophomore, entering the 2025-26 season with 1,927 points as well as a school record 376 steals. A three-time All-Metro West selection, Moore also picked up a pair of All-Metro West Defensive Team accolades. She helped guide Orono to the 2025 Metro West Championship in 2025 with 23.6 ppg, 5.7 apg, 5.7 spg and 5.1 rpg.
Â
"I chose Creighton because their emphasis on culture and relationships stood out to me from the very beginning," said Moore. "In addition, the team's style of play and the opportunities to grow on and off the court align perfectly with what I was looking for. The high academic standards and support will also allow me to reach my full potential."Â
Williams, a 5-10 guard from Ankeny High School, signs with Creighton after an impressive first three seasons. A two-time All-State selection, Williams also earned All-District and All-Region honors last season. As a junior, Jayla averaged 14.9 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.7 apg, and 2.9 spg, while also earning First-Team All-CIML. She set the Ankeny record for rebounds in a season, rebounds per game in 2024-25 and set the record for points in a game with 32 in 2023-24. In addition, she owns the record for steals in a game (8), field goals made per game and career steals. As impressive in the classroom, Williams is a three-time CIML All-Academic honoree as well as three-time IHSAA All-Academic team recipient.
"I choose to further my future at Creighton because it is my real home. The people I will be surrounded with feel most like family than any other program I have been connected with," said Williams. "I love everyone and everything about Creighton and wouldn't want to be anywhere else for four years."
