Neleigh Gessert Drops 25 in 86-62 Win Over Northern Arizona

Las Vegas, Nev. -- In a coming out party for freshmen Neleigh Gessert (25 points) and Ava Zediker (11 points and 10 rebounds), Creighton Women's Basketball delivered a convincing 86-62 win over Northern Arizona on Friday, November 28.
The victory pushed Creighton to 2-4 on the season, while Northern Arizona fell to 1-7.
Creighton took control in the opening frame as the as Elizabeth Gentry scored seven points in the first five minutes. The Bluejays went on to shoot 10-of-18 in the frame to claim a 24-10 edge.
The Bluejays pushed their lead out to as much as 19 at 31-12 with 4:54 remaining, but the Lumberjacks closed the frame with 15 straight points to close within 31-27 at the break.
Neleigh Gessert caught fire in the second half, connecting six times from beyond the arc. She scored 22 of her game-high 25 points in the final 20 minutes. Her play helped ignite the Bluejay attack as Creighton scored 33 points in the third quarter to hold a 64-42 edge entering the final stanza.
Neleigh Gessert finished with a game-high 25 points, hitting nine of 19 shots, including seven treys. Three other Bluejays reached double figures with Allison Heathcock posting 15 points, Elizabeth Gentry delivering 11 and Ava Zediker collecting her first double-double.
Northern Arizona got 19 points from JBIonna Robinson and 13 from Simone Morris.
The Bluejays return to action on Thursday, December 4 as Creighton begins BIG EAST play at St. John's. The contest is set for a 6:00 pm (CT) tip
