Queens, N.Y. -- Creighton Women's Basketball opens its 13th season as a member of the BIG EAST Conference against St. John's on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The Bluejays are 9-3 in opening games as a member of the BIG EAST Conference, while Creighton is 25-13 overall in conference openers. Under head coach Jim Flanery, Creighton is 16-7 in its conference opener. Last season the Bluejays defeated XavierÂ

Heading into the BIG EAST opener with Creighton, the Red Storm ride a six-game win streak. Most recently, the St. John's recorded an 84-73 victory over Memphis to close out the Cayman Islands Classic.
Shooting a season-best 60.4% from the field, St. John's was led by double-digit performances from its top four shooters this season: Sa'Mya Wyatt, Brooke Moore, Beautiful Waheed and Janeya Grant.
Wyatt, who led all scorers with a season-high 22 points against Memphis, also leads the St. John's roster this season with an average 15.8 points per game.
Moore recorded her second double-double in three games against the Tigers with 20 points and 11 rebounds. This season, the guard averages 11.4 points per game.

Scouting Creighton
Creighton flipped the script on a three-game losing streak in the final game of the Bluejays' most recent trip to Las Vegas, recording a decisive 86-62 victory over Northern Arizona.
The win came following a loss, 76-67, to UNLV in the first game of the UNLV Tournament.
Freshmen Neleigh Gessert and Ava Zediker stood at the helm of the 24-point victory margin, Creighton's largest of the regular season.
Gessert led all scorers with 25 points in 26 minutes on the floor, her season-high in both categories. The freshman converted on seven triples and recorded 22 of her 25 points in the second half.
Zediker also made waves, her 11-point, 10-rebound performance marking the first double-double of her career.
The freshman duo leads the roster this season in point production. Zediker heads up the team with an average of 11.6 points per game. Gessert's 25-point performance helped garner her the second place spot in scoring, averaging 11.5 points per game.
Zediker Took Center Stage at UNLV Turkey Tip-Off
Forced into the starting lineup by an injury, freshman Ava Zediker became the first freshman to start a game for Creighton since Morgan Maly did so against Northern Iowa on March 20, 2021.
Not only did Zediker start the game, playing the full 40 minutes she became the first freshman to play an entire contest under head coach Jim Flanery. The last freshman to play at least 40 minutes in a single game was Temi Carda, who played 45Â
minutes in Creighton's four-overtime win at Drake on Dec. 3, 2017.
The last Bluejay freshman to play a complete game was Laura Spanheimer on Jan. 17, 2002 against Northern Iowa.
Neleigh Gessert Drops 25, including 22 in the Second Half in Win Over Northern Arizona
Leading 31-27 at the half, freshman Neleigh Gessert scored 22 of her game-high 25 points to lead the Bluejays to an 86-62 win over Northern Arizona on Nov. 28. Gessert's 25 point effort was the first time a freshman scored as much as 25 points since Emma Ronsiek delivered 27 points against DePaul on Feb. 20, 2021.
Zediker Delivers First Double-Double by Freshman since 2021
