BOYDS, Md. – The Creighton Women's Soccer team had its season come to an end, falling to top-seeded and No. 10 ranked Georgetown, 2-0, on Thursday, Nov. 6 in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals.
The loss ended the Jays' 2025 season with a 7-8-4 overall record, while the Hoyas improved to 15-2-2 with their 11th straight victory and advanced to the face Xavier in the BIG EAST Championship match on Sunday.
Georgetown controlled possession for the majority of the opening frame, striking the back of the net in the 33rd minute when Henley Tippins punched in her ninth goal of the season off a corner kick insertion from Shay Montgomery.
The Hoyas smothering defense kept the Jays at bay, taking a 1-0 lead into the locker room with a 14-0 edge in shots.
Georgetown continued to press the Bluejays offensively early on in the second half, taking a 2-0 lead in the 62nd minute as Maja Lardner, the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, netted her 14th goal of the season.
Despite trailing 2-0, Creighton never gave up as senior Alyssa Zalac made multiple diving saves to keep the Hoyas from adding to their advantage.
Creighton's lone shot attempt came in the 85th minutes as Ariana Mondiri lined a free kick into the arms of BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, Cara Martin. Georgetown corned the ball the remainder of the match, securing their ninth BIG EAST Championship match appearance in the last 10 seasons.
Georgetown closed the match with a 27-1 edge in shots and a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
