OMAHA, Neb. – Powered by the first career goal from sophomore Sarah Hyde, the Creighton women's soccer team delivered its third consecutive shutout in a 1-0 win over Missouri on Sunday, Aug. 30.

With the win the Bluejays secured its first victory over an SEC opponent since 1997 while climbing to 2-2-1 on the season. Missouri, meanwhile, fell to 2-3-1 overall with the loss.

Despite Missouri controlling possession and outshooting the Bluejays, 10-3, in the first half, Creighton took a 1-0 lead into the break.

Pressing up on the Tigers, Hyde blocked a pass from Mia Yang along the back line and raced up field, where she beat Missouri goalkeeper Riley Wilkerson in a 1v1 by slotting the first goal of her career just inside the left post to give the Jays a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute (31:57).

Creighton carried all of the momentum into the second half and had several chances to add to their advantage with multiple dangerous scoring opportunities in the attacking third.

In the 55th minute, junior Anna Bragg recovered a misplay by the Missouri defense in the middle of the Bluejays attacking third, leaving a one-on-one scoring chance with the Tigers goalkeeper. Wilkerson, however, sniffed out a blast from Bragg at the top of the box to keep Mizzou within striking distance.

Ten minutes later, CU nearly added another tally as true freshman Blu Kieper rocketed a shot off the cross bar in the 65th minute of play.

Missouri looked to equalize in the final 20 minutes but were unable to as Bluejay goalkeeper Kailey Hall fended off a slew of Tiger shots and corners down the stretch.

The shutout victory was Creighton goalkeepers Morgan Paley and Hall's third consecutive combined shutout, the most consecutive shutouts since the Jays posted five straight clean sheets in 2021. Paley and Hall are in the midst of a scoreless streak spanning better than 317 minutes (317:24).

Missouri finished the match with a decisive 21-7 edge in shots and an 11-6 advantage in corner kicks. Paley earned her second win of the season in goal snaring three saves in the first half, while Hall collected four saves in the second frame.

The Bluejays return to the pitch on Friday, September 4 at 5 p.m. as Creighton hosts Northern Colorado in the 14th annual Socctoberfest match at Morrison Stadium.
