About Georgetown
Scouting Georgetown (7-4, 0-2 BIG EAST)
The Hoyas delivered a strong non-conference performance, going 7-2 with a road win at Wake Forest and home victories over George Washington and Towson. In Georgetown's two BIG EAST games, however, the Hoyas have come up seven points short to Villanova and in overtime at Providence.
Led primarily by new faces, Georgetown's leading scorer is Khia Miller (10.6 ppg), while returner Victoria Rivera brings 9.4 ppg. Six other Hoyas are averaging between 9.0 and 5.2 ppg.
Consistently a strong defensive team under Haney, the Hoyas are limiting opponents to 59.6 ppg.
Reserve Cristen Carter leads Georgetown on the glass with 6.1 rpg.
Scouting Creighton (6-6, 2-1 BIG EAST)
The youthful Bluejays have started to settle in as freshmen Ava Zediker and Neleigh Gessert have each delivered a pair of 20+ point efforts. Zediker scored 25 against Seton Hall in the last contest to reclaim the team lead with 12.8 ppg, while Neleigh Gessert has the overall lead with 146 points (12.2 ppg).
Different for Creighton during the 2025-26 season is applying more pressure on the defensive end. Creighton has 85 steals this season, while allowing just 84 steals.
Keys to the Game
Rebounding & Second Chance Points: Georgetown enters the game against Creighton averaging better than 38 rebounds per game, while the Bluejays come in just over 36. Cleaning the glass and limiting the Hoyas' ability at second chance buckets will play a critical role.
Consistent Ball Movement: Creighton is at its best when the ball moves to create open looks. This season the Bluejays have relied more on drives than side to side movement, but the ball cannot get stuck in one place.
Three-Point Shooting: As a team known for letting it fly, Creighton must be discerning to look for the best look rather than any available trey.
Gessert Twins Claim Millard
Bluejay twins Neleigh and Norah Gessert came to Creighton from Millard West HS. Facing Omaha on Millard Night, the duo showed out with a combined 10 three-pointers. Each Gessert connected five times from long range, while the Mavericks had just eight. With 16 treys as a team, Creighton scored 48 of its 92 points from beyond the arc.
McGee Finding her Form
Freshman Kendall McGee delivered her best performance of the season with 13 points and five assists in 32 minutes against Kansas State. McGee went 6-for-11 against the Wildcats, her first double-digit output of the season.
Over the last four games she has a combined 34 points, while amassing 33 in her first eight games.
Technically Speaking
In Creighton's contest with Seton Hall on Dec. 22, freshman Kendall McGee picked up her a technical foul.
Head coach Jim Flanery picked up his last technical during the 2015-16 season, earning two technicals during the year. Flanery has accounted for seven of the 16 technical fouls during his tenure at Creighton.
The last time an opposing coach earned a technical was at Tulsa on Dec. 1, 2024. The last time a BIG EAST opponent picked up a technical came against UConn on Feb. 19, 2024 against Gino Auriemma.
