Keys to the Game
Townsend Showing a Flare for the Big City
Having already taken to the limelight in New York, senior Kennedy Townsend showed a liking for the nation's capital as well. Townsend delivered a career-high 30 points at Georgetown on Dec. 28. Kennedy closed the game 11-for-25, coming up just short on a potential game winning trey in the closing seconds of Creighton's 76-74 loss to the Hoyas.
The last 30-point effort by a Bluejay game last season by Lauren Jensen against Nebraska on Nov. 22, 2024.
Bluejays Surge in the Fourth at Georgetown
Trailing 66-47 with under nine minutes remaining on Dec. 22 in Washington D.C., Creighton rallied within one point at 75-74 in the final minute. The Bluejays held the ball down 76-74 with eight seconds left, but the game-winning shot fell short.
Another interesting comeback saw Creighton go from down 21-12 on the glass at the half to winning the rebounding battle 41-38.
Technically Speaking
Creighton collected back-to-back technicals as head coach Jim Flanery was issued one in the Bluejays' 76-74 loss at Georgetown on Dec. 28. The previous game with Seton Hall on Dec. 22 saw freshman Kendall McGee picked up a technical foul.Â
Before the game with the Hoyas, Flanery's last technical came during the 2015-16 season, earning two technicals during the year. Flanery has accounted for eight of the 17 technical fouls during his tenure at Creighton.Â
The last time an opposing coach earned a technical was at Tulsa on Dec. 1, 2024. The last time a BIG EAST opponent picked up a technical came against UConn on Feb. 19, 2024 against Gino Auriemma.Â

Keys to the Game
- Fast Start: The Bluejays cannot continue to dig double-digit deficits and hope a late comeback will lead to a victory.Â
- Forcing Turnovers: While no longer a team in the top 10 for fewest turnovers, Villanova is more than adept at taking care of the basketball. Creighton must use its pressure to create chaos for the Wildcats.
- Three-Point Shooting: The trey remains a critical piece of Creighton's arsenal. The Bluejays have t win beyond the arc to defeat Villanova.
