
Men’s Tennis Extended Winning Streak With 7-0 Sweep of Marquette

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton men's tennis team extended their winning streak to four with a 7-0 sweep of Marquette on Friday night at the Hanscom Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb.
The Bluejays moved their season record to 12-5 on the year and 4-1 in BIG EAST play, while Marquette fell to 3-16 overall with the loss.
Creighton started Friday's action with doubles wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions to earn the first point of the match. Senior Ethan Neil and freshman Rocky McKenzie teamed up for a 6-4 win on the top doubles court, while senior Alejandro Gandini and freshman Max Stollecker combined for an identical 6-4 win on the No. 3 doubles court to clinch the Bluejays 15th double point of the season.
Leading 1-0, the Bluejays quickly cruised to victory, claiming straight set victories on five of the six singles courts.
Gandini picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at the top singles spot, before McKenzie captured a 6-1, 6-3 victory on the No. 4 singles court to give the Jays a 3-0 lead. Junior Zachary Kuo then clinched the overall dual with a 6-3, 6-3 straight sets triumph on the No. 3 singles court to secure the Bluejays four consecutive BIG EAST victory.
Junior Kirtan Patel followed suit with a 7-5, 6-4 win on the No. 2 singles court, while Stollecker collected a 7-6, 6-4 victory at the No. 6 singles spot for the Jays. Neil would close out the match with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 three-set victory on the No. 5 singles court to secure the perfect 7-0 sweep.
Creighton will return to the court on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., as they play host to North Dakota for senior day at the Hanscom Tennis Center.
