About Seton Hall
Scouting Seton Hall (22-8, 13-5 BIG EAST)
Shaking off the cobwebs in a close encounter against Xavier in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals, expect the Pirates to deliver their best shot to Creighton on Sunday. The Bluejays and Pirates have a long history in a short time, meeting in the BIG EAST Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and sixth time overall.
The trio of Faith Masonis (15.3 ppg), Savannah Catalon (13.9 ppg) and Jada Eads (13.9 ppg) guide the Pirates' offense, but I'yanna Lops and Amari Wright are two important cogs.
Seton Hall enters the matchup on Sunday with a four game win streak.
Scouting #23 Creighton (25-5, 16-2 BIG EAST)
With the regular season officially at its end, the No. 23 Bluejays finished strong by winning eight of their previous nine contests to earn a 16-2 record in conference play, tied for their best.
The Bluejays narrowly dodged a second straight BIG EAST Tournament upset by Georgetown in the Quarterfinals, rallying for a 72-70 win over the Hoyas.
Veterans scorers Morgan Maly and Lauren Jensen continue to be the focal point of the offense with both crossing 2,000 points as a Bluejay in the last two games. Â
With A Win...
- Creighton would reach the BIG EAST Tournament finals for the second time overall, but first since 2016
Milestone Watch
- Mallory Brake needs one blocks to reach 100 in her career.
- Lauren Jensen is one point away from passing Connie Yori (2,010) for fourth in Creighton's career points. She needs 15 to move past Pam Gradoville for third.
- Lauren Jensen needs 12 rebounds to reach 500 in her career and seven assists to reach 400. She needs 19 rebounds for 500 as a Bluejay and 16 assists for 400 while at Creighton.
- Morgan Maly has a streak of 50 games with at least one three pointer
- Morgan Maly is seven rebounds (786) away from reaching 800.
- Molly Mogensen is 14 assists from reaching 500.
More Than Deja Vu, the Pirates and Bluejays are an Annual Event
For the fifth consecutive season and sixth time overall Creighton and Seton Hall are meeting in the BIG EAST Tournament. One important difference is this will be the first time since 2016 that the stakes are a higher as the winner advances to the Finals. The previous four meetings have come in the Quarterfinals.
The Bluejays have won four of the five previous contests, but two of the last three meetings in the BIG EAST Tournament have been decided by just one point. Each battle has been decided in the fourth quarter, with the largest margin of victory over the last four meetings has been seven points.
