Neal and Ashworth to play on Friday.
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball duo of Jamiya Neal and Steven Ashworth have both been selected to participate in the NABC-Reese's Division I College All-Star Game. The game will take place on Friday at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and tip off at 3:30 p.m. Central live on CBS Sports Network.
Neal averaged 12.0 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game and was the lone player to start every game for the Bluejays in 2024-25. The 6-foot-5 guard/forward from Toledo, Ohio, spent his first three seasons at Arizona State and closed his college career with 998 combined points, including 433 at Creighton. His best game came in CU's victory over No. 10 Louisville in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, when he scored a career-high 29 points and tied his best with 12 rebounds. Neal was one of two players to rank in the Top 10 in the BIG EAST in both rebounds and assists per game.
Ashworth is a 6-foot point guard from Alpine, Utah, who has started all 35 of his appearances this season. He averaged 16.4 points and leads the BIG EAST with 6.8 assists per game and 93.0 percent marksmanship at the free throw line. Ashworth ranks fourth nationally and set a CU single-season record in free throw percentage, while he's seventh in the country in assists and 12th in three-pointers made, both of which are second-most in CU history. He's become the first player in CU history with at least 500 points and 200 assists in the same season, and finished his career with 1,994 career points, 740 career assists and 394 career three-pointers made. He was named a Second Team All-BIG EAST choice and is a finalist for the Nolan Richardson Award.
The All-Star Game is one of two events that Ashworth will be participating in this week in the Lone Star State. This Thursday night at 6 p.m. Central he's one of eight contestants in the E*TRADE Men's 3-Point Championship, which is part of the 36th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships. That event will be held at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio and can be watched on ESPN.
Creighton finished its 2024-25 season with a 25-11 record and are one of four teams nationally to win an NCAA Tournament game each of the past five seasons.
