Ludwick Makes Program History as BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week

Javelin thrower is CU's first honoree
OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton Track program reached another milestone as Jacob Ludwick was named BIG EAST Men's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. He is the first member of the program to be named BIG EAST Track or Field Athlete of the Week in team history.
Ludwick won the javelin throw at the USD Twilight on Friday with a throw of 59.71 meters (195'10"). It was the second-best throw of the season for the native of Clay Center, Kansas, trailing only his own school-record (64.43 meters) that he set on April 11th at the Jim Duncan Invitational.
Ludwick is the first student-athlete since the program's revival to throw the javelin, but he's no stranger to the event. He was a three-time NAIA All-American while competing for Ottawa University in Kansas before transferring to Creighton last fall.
Ludwick and his Bluejay teammates will head to the BIG EAST Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Storrs, Conn., with competition starting on Thursday night. The men's javelin competition will take place on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Central.
