Bluejays Drop 3-1 Decision at Michigan

Ann Arbor, Mich. -- Creighton Men's Soccer dropped a 3-1 decision at Michigan on Friday, August 29. The loss moved the Bluejays to 0-2-1 on the season, while the Wolverines climbed to 2-0-1.
All four goals came in the opening frame as Michigan took a 1-0 lead by converting a penalty kick in the fifth minute (4:14). The Wolverines pushed their edge to 2-0 in the 23rd minute (22:09) when Nolan Miller scored into the bottom right corner. Mitar Mitrovic was credited with an assist on the play.Â
Creighton responded by converting a penalty kick of its own with 25:24 showing on the clock as Miguel Arilla recorded his second goal of the season.Â
Michigan, however, answered back at 32:12 as Raymundo Mendez paid off a series of passes from Shuma Sasaki and Matthew Fisher with a goal into the right corner.
The Bluejays were held to five shots in the match, while Michigan managed eight. Creighton created seven corners to just three for the Wolverines.
Creighton will open its home schedule on Monday, September 1 against Tulsa with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m.
