Scouting DePaul (2-2-5, 0-0-1 BE)
DePaul's season has been largely defined by draws, with its only two wins — both at home — coming in 2-1 decisions over Chicago State and Loyola Chicago. The Blue Demons come into the meeting with Creighton following a 2-1 loss to Bowling Green on Tuesday.
Last weekend the Blue Demons faced BIG EAST opponent Villanova to a 1-1 draw on the road. In the draw, the sole goal on the DePaul side came from Tyler Flowers to notch his first goal of the season.Â
Five Blue Demons have put their names in the scoring column this season, but Keagan Pace spearheads the DePaul scoring effort with four goals this season.Â
DePaul's Ethan Gordon and Jayden Waski share the team lead in assists this season, with two each.
Santiago Davila has guarded the net for DePaul in seven of eight matches this season, he holds a 2-1-4 record, allowing nine goals (1.29 per game) and recording 21 saves.
Scouting Creighton (4-2-2, 1-0-0 BE)
The Bluejays wrapped up their five-game homestand on a high note, riding a four-game win streak, an undefeated run at home and their first BIG EAST victory of the season.
The road matchup with DePaul serves as Creighton's first road match in four weeks. While the Bluejays fared well at home, with a 4-0-1 record, they have yet to break through for a road win, going 0-2-1. Most recently, the Bluejays outlasted a then-undefeated Marquette squad, scoring in the 81st minute of an intense brawl to come to a 1-0 decision.Â
The go-ahead goal came off the foot of Brian Edelman, who recorded his second goal of the season. The goal came courtesy of an assist from Miguel Arilla, Creighton's leading scorer this season.
Arilla, Matthew Reed and Bautista Rossi share the team lead with two assists each, while eight Bluejays have contributed to the team's 10 total assists this season.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Matthew Hudson notched his fourth clean sheet of the season against the Golden Eagles and enters the DePaul match with a .690 save percentage.
Hudson's Scoreless Streak Crosses 200 Minutes for Second Time in 2025
Since conceding a goal at the 60:04 mark against Omaha on Sept. 10, goalkeeper Matthew Hudson and the Creighton defense have strung together a 209:56 scoreless streak. Before their current 200-plus minute shutout run, the Bluejays held opponents scoreless for 210:24 — a span that stretched from their 0-0 draw with Tulsa through the 31st minute of their match with Omaha.
Undefeated September
Since returning to Morrison Stadium on the first day of September, the Bluejays haven't dropped a match, pulling together a 4-0-1 record at home. In that span, Creighton outscored opponents 9-2 across five matches, averaging 1.8 goals per game while allowing just 0.4.
Torres Picks Up First Staff Red Card Since 2008, Bluejays Three Red Cards This Season Already Most Since 2001
A red card in the 81st minute shown to Head Coach Johnny Torres against Marquette marked the first red card issued to the Bluejay staff since 2008. The previous staff red card also went to Torres, who was ejected in the 75th minute of a road match against No. 6 California on Sept. 21, 2008.Â
At the midway point of the 2025 campaign, the Bluejays have already collected three red cards — a number no Creighton team has accumulated over a full season since 2001.
Edelman Earns BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, Hudson Garners Honor RollÂ
Bluejay freshman Brian Edelman was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, while Creighton Goalkeeper Matthew Hudson earned a spot on the weekly Honor Roll when the conference awards were announced on Monday, September 22.
Following up a free kick shot that was deflected into the post, Creighton defender Edelman delivered his second goal of the season by blasting a shot in for the decisive tally. Playing along the back line, Edelman played a vital role in keeping Marquette from notching a goal. It was only the second time this season Marquette has been blanked and the first since the opening match of the season.
Hudson posted his fourth clean sheet in the last five matches as the Bluejays handed Marquette its first loss of the season in the BIG EAST opening match. Creighton's goalkeeper faced 10 shots, making a pair of saves. The difference-making save came in the 77th minute as Hudson delivered a diving save to deny the Golden Eagles.
