Women's Basketball Returns to the Road, Facing Providence on Saturday

Omaha, Neb. -- After a six day respite, Creighton Women's Basketball returns to the hardwood on Saturday, Jan. 17 facing Providence in Rhode Island at 12:00 pm (CT).
Scouting Providence (9-10, 2-6 BIG EAST)
The Friars enter the game with Creighton having dropped five of their last six games, including three straight at home.

The lone double-digit scorer for Providence is Sabou Gueye with 13.8 ppg. Two other Friars sit just below 10 points per game as Payton Dunbar is at 9.7 and Teneisia Brown checks in at 9.2.
The Friars two strongest areas are rebounding (37.3) and defense. Providence allows just 61.1 ppg.

Freshmen Neleigh Gessert and Ava Zediker have continued to toggle back and forth for the team lead in scoring this season. Entering the game at Providence, Zediker has reclaimed the lead with 12.9 ppg.Â

Zediker First Freshman Since Caitlin Clark to Score 20+ Against Connecticut
With 23 points today, Creighton's Ava Zediker became the first true freshman to score 20+ points against a top-ranked UConn team since Iowa's Caitlin Clark scored 21 in a Sweet 16 game on March 27, 2021. Â
