
Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Trip to Florida with 7-0 Sweep of East Texas Baptist

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Creighton women's tennis team closed out its spring break trip to Florida with a 7-0 sweep of East Texas Baptist on Thursday afternoon at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The Bluejays improved to 11-4 on the year, while the Tigers fell to 6-5 overall.
Creighton wasted no time earning a 1-0 lead, claiming wins at all three doubles positions. Senior Annika Elvestrom and Livia Rodrigues Daud opened play with a 6-0 win at the No. 2 doubles spot, before sophomores Olivia Minikel and Sophie Schwartz claimed a 6-2 victory on the top doubles court to give the Jays a 1-0 lead. Sophomores Elsa Jurrens and Karli Vo also posted an identical 6-2 win on the No. 3 doubles court to sweep doubles play.
The Bluejays continued its dominant performance into singles action as the Bluejays claimed straight-set victories at all six singles positions to clinch the sweep.
Cote and Daud rolled to identical 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 3 and No. 4 single slots, before Tran clinched the overall dual with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph on the No. 2 singles court. Jurrens followed with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 6 singles spot, before Minikel claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win on the No. 5 singles court. Schwartz would close out the day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the top singles position to secure the 7-0 sweep.
In its second match of the day, Creighton won the doubles point against Calvin University before rain ended the match early.
Creighton will take the next two weeks off before hosting St. Thomas on March 28 at 1 p.m. at the Hanscom Tennis Center.
