Pineau Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

New York, N.Y. -- Coming off a 2-1 win over Gonzaga in the series opening game on Saturday, March 7, Creighton ace Jack Pineau was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Monday, March 9.
Pineau scattered four hits over six scoreless innings to earn the win over the Zags in a 2-1 contest. He collected his second win of the season, notching six strikeouts. PIneau out dueled Gonzaga starter Zach Bowman, who limited Creighton to two run on four hits in eight innings.
The win lifted Jack to 2-0 on the season, lowing his season ERA to 3.60.
Pineau and the rest of the Bluejays travel to Baton Rouge to face the defending national champion, #13 LSU on the SEC+ Network on Tuesday, March 10 at 6:30 pm (CT).

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Matthew Rhoades, Butler, Jr., 1B (Monument, Colo.)
Rhoades was sensational for Butler in four-game weekend, making the most of his 16 at bats. The junior recorded nine hits, walked once and got hit by a pitch twice, resulting in 10 runs scored and eight RBI. Rhoades blasted five home runs in the quartet of outings and added a double. He scored at least two runs in every game and had two multi-home run outings. In the series opening win over Morehead State, he scored four runs, tallied four RBI and blasted two home runs.

David Ayers, Butler, Jr., UTL
Ayers tied a program record with eight RBI in a win over Morehead State. Overall, he had five runs, 10 RBI and three home runs on seven hits in four games.
Nater Wachter, UConn, Jr., OF
In a 3-1 week, Wachter collected four hits, scored seven runs and had four RBI. He scored a run in each game.
Luke Jackman, Georgetown, Gr., P
Jackman earned a pair of saves, his third and fourth of the season, against George Mason. Pitched 3.1 innings total, striking out a batter and giving up three hits.
Will Parkinson, Villanova, Sr., P
Parkinson pitched four innings, striking out five batters with a 0.0 ERA.
Evan Vasiliou, Xavier, Sr., LHP
Vasiliou posted a 0.0 ERA through 5.0 innings pitched in a pair of games. He gave up just four hits and struck out a pair of batters.
