OMAHA, Neb. -- The first piece of the 2026 Creighton Volleyball schedule was announced on Sunday, and it's a big one. The 12-time defending BIG EAST champion Bluejays will host defending national champion Texas A&M on Sunday, Sept. 20th, inside D.J. Sokol Arena.
It'll be just the second time that Creighton has hosted the defending national champion, having played 2017 champion Nebraska to five sets on Sept. 6, 2018 at CHI Health Center Omaha. CU is 2-6 all-time against the defending national champion, sweeping then-No. 3 Kentucky on Sept. 4, 2021 as well as picking up a four-set win over then-No. 13 Texas in the 2024 Regional Semifinals when the Longhorns were the two-time defending national champions.
Creighton went 28-6 last season, winning a 12th consecutive BIG EAST regular-season title while advancing to the program's third Elite Eight since 2016. The Bluejay welcome back starters Jaya Johnson, Abbey Hayes, Eloise Brandewie and libero Sydney Breissinger among 11 returnees. CU is 46-1 in the past three seasons at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Texas A&M went 29-4 last season, sweeping both No. 4 Pittsburgh and No. 2Â Kentucky in the Final Four en route to the program's first NCAA title. The Aggies emerged from the Lincoln Regional with dramatic 3-2 wins over No. 9 Louisville and No. 1 Nebraska. Eight members of Texas A&M's 2025 title winning team are slated to return in the fall, including AVCA All-American and NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Kyndal Stowers.
Texas A&M has won three of the previous four meetings in the series, though the programs have not met since the Aggies swept meetings on back-to-back days the first weekend of the 2011 season. Creighton's lone win was a 3-0 sweep in 2008 at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Texas A&M's only previous trip to Omaha to face CU. The series began in 1998 with a Texas A&M victory in Stockton, Calif.
