OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton's Trinity Shadd-Ceres has been named BIG EAST Women's Field Athlete of the Week just two weeks into her college track career. She is Creighton's first BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week since Jacob Ludwick on May 13, 2025, and first CU's female to ever win the award.
Shadd-Ceres won the Nebraska Spring Tune-Up in the long jump last Friday in Lincoln, Neb., soaring to the top of the BIG EAST charts with one of the top leaps in the country this season.
The redshirt freshman, who transferred to CU in the spring to also join the Bluejay volleyball program, was competing in just her second track meet since the summer of 2024. After an opening jump of 6.08 meters (19' 11.5" inches), Shadd-Ceres soared 6.40 meters (21' 0") in her second jump to win the competition. Her jump was the longest in the BIG EAST this season, far outdistancing St. John's Cassandra Lemmus-Sodji (6.15m) and was a distance long enough to win the BIG EAST Championships every season since 2013.
Shadd-Ceres' jump ranks as the 20th-best mark in the country this season, and all but assures that she'll become CU's first female track and field athlete to qualify for the NCAA First Round on May 27-30 in Fayetteville, Ark. The top 48 long jumpers in the West Region will qualify for that event, and Shadd-Ceres' leap is currently 13th-best in the West Region.
Shadd-Ceres' mark was just shy of her personal best of 6.49 meters set on August 4, 2023, at the U18 Athletics Championships in Ontario, Canada.
