Bluejay Men's Soccer Rallies for 1-1 Draw with Drake

Omaha, Neb. -- The Bluejay Men's Soccer team rallied to post a 1-1 draw against Drake on Sunday, August 23 as Creighton remained undefeated after two matches in 2026. Creighton moved to 1-0-1 in the season, while Drake moved to 0-1-1.
Despite Creighton dominating possession in the opening frame, Drake took a 1-0 in the 39th minute (38:20) as Evan Carlson finished passes from Barrett Kitts and Malachi Anya for the Bulldogs second goal of the season.
The equalizer for Creighton came as junior Angel Lopez found freshman Carter Tavares in the 56th minute (55:40). It was Tavares' second goal of the season. In his first two matches as a Bluejay Tavares has two goals and two assists (six points).
A physical match saw Drake close the match with three yellow cards, four corners and eight shots. Creighton, meanwhile, had one yellow, two corners and six shots.
Creighton returns to action on Thursday, August 27 as the Bluejays host San Francisco at 7:30 pm in Morrison Stadium.
