Rowing Opens 2026-27 Season With Win Over Kansas State

Omaha, Neb. -- Opening the 27th season under head coach Dan Chipps, Creighton Rowing earned a victory over Kansas State with a win in the Varsity 8 on Saturday, September 26.
The competition began with the Varsity 4 race as each squad raced five boats in a singular battle at 10:30 am. The Wildcats took the first battle with a time of 12:33.189, while Creighton finished second.
After a break in the action the two teams returned to the water for the main event. This time Creighton won the race, and ultimately the regatta. Due to a timing malfunction, specific times for the boats in the final race were not available.
"It was rewarding for our team to compete against another team for the first time this season," said Chipps. "There is room for improvement, but I'm proud of our performance and the improvements we've already made in the fall."
The Bluejays return to the water on Saturday, October 3 as Creighton will compete in the Head of the Mississippi Regatta in Minneapolis, Minn.
