Career Summary
Three-year starter at Creighton who has picked up national honors for his work on the court (2006-07 Senior CLASS Award All-American), in the classroom (2005-06 and 2006-07 NACDA I-AAA
Scholar-Athlete of the Year; 2006-07 Second-Team CoSIDA Academic All-American) and in the weight room (2005-06 NSCA All-American Strength & Conditioning Athlete of the Year Award).
A role model both on and off the court, Tolliver will graduate in May 2007 with a 3.53 GPA as a Finance major. He earned a league record 10 MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week awards during his
career and was also the recipient of the Carl M. Reinert, S.J., Award as Creighton’s top male senior student-athlete.
As a senior, was named first-team all-Missouri Valley Conference after being league’s only player to rank in the top-10 in scoring (13.4), rebounding (6.7) and blocked shots per game (1.7). He was a finalist for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, which named him a second-team All-American. He was also named a CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major All-American, second-team CoSIDA Academic All-American and became the first player to ever repeat as the NACDA I-AAA Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Tolliver was also named to the MVC All-Tournament Team, and tied a school-record for field goal percentage in a game by hitting 11-of-11 shots on Jan. 1 vs. Illinois State. He surpassed 1,000 career points in Creighton’s NCAA Tournament game against Nevada. Led team with 23 charges taken and six double-doubles. Following the season he was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Portsmouth Invitational, averaging 12.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game while helping team to the event’s title.
As a junior, was a second-team all-Missouri Valley Conference pick after leading Creighton in rebounding (200), blocked shots (47) and field goal percentage (51.5%) while ranking second with 13.2 points per game. Was named captain of the MVC’s Most Improved Team after tripling his scoring average from one year earlier. Scored 10 or more points 23 times in 30 games compared to just twice in his first 61 games. Had 13 points, 12 rebounds and seven steals in road win at Evansville, the most steals by a Bluejay center ever. Had career-high 26 points in win over Xavier, also snaring 10 rebounds. Along with NBA Lottery pick Patrick O’Bryant, one of two players to rank in the top-10 in the MVC in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. Led team with 17 charges taken. Honored with a National Strength & Conditioning Association All-American Athlete of the Year Award for his work and dedication in the weight room. Four-time MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week was also named NACDA I-AAA Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, CoSIDA Academic All-District VII First Team and to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team. Spent two weeks in August of 2006 touring Europe with Athlete’s in Action.
As a sophomore, played in all 30 games, including 30 starts. Averaged 4.2 points and was second on the team with 4.4 rebounds per game. Also second on club with 24 blocked shots. Had team’s only double-double of the year with 13 points and 10 rebounds in Guardians Classic Championship game win over Ohio State. Had eight points and seven rebounds in MVC Tournament finals win over Missouri State. A member of the Creighton Dean’s List and honorable-mention MVC Scholar-Athlete Team member.
As a freshman, he played in 27 games off the bench, averaging 0.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.3 blocked shots per game. Played behind a quartet of fifth-year seniors in the Bluejay frontcourt, and missed valuable practice time after breaking his hand during the first week of practice.
Finished his Creighton career 31st all-time in scoring with 1,004 points and fourth with 136 blocked shots, a figure that ranks 15th in MVC history.
2006-07 (Senior)
• First-team all-MVC pick this year after earning second-team all-MVC honors last year.
• A second team CoSIDA Academic All-American, he owns a 3.53 GPA in Finance.
• Two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team, including this season, and a CoSIDA Academic All-District VII First Team selection.
• Named to the MVC all-Tournament Team after averaging 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game in three wins.
• Moved over 1,000 career points in final game of career vs. #15 Nevada (Mar. 16).
• Had 17 points and 11 rebounds in just 19 minutes of win over Ark.-Pine Bluff (Nov. 29).
• Had 18 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the year versus Fresno State (Dec. 16).
• Had 15 points and 13 rebounds in MVC Tournament championship game win over #11 SIU while also holding all-MVC big man Randal Falker to three points and five rebounds.
• Scored nine or more points in 53 of his last 56 games.
• Had at least one blocked shot in 32 of the last 38 games and became the sixth player in CU history to reach 100 swats on Jan. 6 at Evansville. Finished with 136 career blocks.
• Named captain of the MVC's Most Improved Team last year.
• Was named I-AAA (Division I non-football) Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year last season.
• Named Prairie Farms MVC Scholar Athlete of the Week on Dec. 14, Jan. 4, Jan. 17, Feb. 15 and March 7 and is a 10-time winner of the award in his career.
• Tied a school-record for field goal percentage in a game, going 11-for-11 from the floor and finishing with season-best 23 points and nine boards in win over Illinois State (Jan. 1).
• Had 18 points, six rebounds, career-best six assists and tied high with five blocks in win over Drake (Jan. 9).
• Had 13 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five blocked shots in road win at Missouri State (Jan. 24).
• Had 13 points and a career-best 14 rebounds in road win at Bradley (Jan. 31).
• Named MVC Player of the Week on Jan. 15 after averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 blocks in win over Drake and UNI.
• Had 13 points, six rebounds in five-point road win at Drake (Feb. 3), including a charge with 19 seconds left and a blocked shot with five seconds left.
• Led team with 23 charges taken.
• One of 10 finalists (and only MVC rep.) for the Senior CLASS Award, an award handed out to the Division I male senior basketball player who excels both on and off the court.
